This type of gate was commonly used for the wall around an altar. They look like memorial archways and are made of white marble. Both the inner and outer walls of the Circular Mound have four sets of gates, each set containing three gates. Altogether, the 24 Lingxing Gates are poetically described as “the jade forest of cloud gates.”
