
Built in 1420 (the 18th year of the Ming-dynasty Yongle Emperor’s reign), it is the main hall of the Divine Music Administration complex and was where sacrificial music rehearsals took place during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Originally named the Taihe (“Supreme Harmony”) Hall, it was given its current name in 1673 (the 12th year of the Qing-dynasty Kangxi Emperor’s reign).
