This Chinese juniper is designated as a First-Class Ancient Tree. The ridges in the trunk divide it vertically spiraling sections and give it the appearance of nine dragons climbing upward, hence the name. During an event to find the ten most beautiful trees in Beijing in 2018, it was declared the most beautiful Chinese juniper in the city.
